Background: Neboviruses are non-enveloped, single-stranded, linear, positive-sense RNA viruses ((+)ssRNA), belonging to the Caliciviridae family. The only currently known species in the genus Nebovirus is Newbury-1 virus. Cattle, especially calves, serve as natural hosts. Neboviral infection is associated with gastrointestinal disorders and necrotizing hepatitis leading to fatal hemorrhages in calves. The disease often remains endemic due to the lack of a commercially available vaccine.

PCR-platforms: ViroReal^® Kit Bovine Nebovirus is developed and validated for the ABI PRISM^® 7500 instrument (Life Technologies), LightCycler^® 480 (Roche) and Mx3005P^® QPCR System (Agilent), but is also suitable for other real-time PCR instruments.
